The Government has included the Land Bank in the humanitarian demining program – 7,000 hectares of state lands will become available to farmers
The State Land Bank has been included in the state program to cover the costs of humanitarian demining of agricultural lands. This will allow 7,000 hectares of state land in the Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions to be prepared for safe use and put up for transparent online auctions for farmers.
The corresponding changes are provided for by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution, which updates the procedure for using budget funds to compensate for demining costs. Previously, this mechanism was primarily available to agricultural producers, farming households, and agricultural enterprises.
"The inclusion of the State Land Bank in the humanitarian demining program is an example of an effective synergy of state tools that yields a tangible result. This decision allows us to unlock thousands of hectares of state lands and increase their investment attractiveness. Farmers will gain access to prepared plots, and the state will gain the efficient use of its resources," noted Dmytro Natalukha, Chairman of the State Property Fund.
In cooperation with the Center for Humanitarian Demining, the State Land Bank will be able to prepare the lands for safe use in the shortest possible time. This concerns land plots outside of high-risk zones.
At the same time, this allows for the saving of significant funds, which will be directed to the state budget.
"According to estimates, the average cost of demining one hectare in 2026 is UAH 67,200. Therefore, thanks to inclusion in this program, the state operator of the 'Land Bank' will be able to save about UAH 470 million, which were supposed to be directed towards the demining of 7,000 hectares of potentially contaminated lands. These funds, instead of being spent, will replenish the state budget in 2027 and can be used, in particular, to support the defense forces," emphasized Yaroslav Yaroslavskyi, CEO of LLC "State Land Bank".
Following the demining process, these lands will be put up for open online auctions, which will increase their attractiveness and competition among potential bidders. As a result, farmers will gain access to 7,000 hectares of land and will be able to use them safely and effectively, contributing to the country's economy.
