11 bidders and an 18.8-fold increase in price: a successful privatization auction in the Kharkiv region

The State Property Fund team held an online auction for the privatization of non-residential buildings with a total area of 416.3 m² in the Kharkiv region. The auction took place on the “Prozorro.Sales” platform.

Eleven participants actively competed for the lot. It was the competition during the auction that allowed the property’s value to increase from the starting price of UAH 81,050 to the winning bid of UAH 1.52 million—an 18.8-fold increase. Additionally, the winner must pay UAH 304,000 in VAT, so the total economic effect could amount to UAH 1.824 million.

This successful privatization auction is an example of how open online auctions ensure market competition and allow the state to obtain the maximum price for an asset.

At the same time, non-residential buildings that have long been in a state of disrepair and underutilized will now have a chance for renovation, repurposing, and attracting investment.
