The State Property Fund, in coordination with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, has appointed a new Head of PJSC “Centrenergo”
On February 26, 2020, the State Property Fund renewed the management of PJSC “Centrenergo”, appointing Vlasenko Yuriy Petrovych, honored power engineering specialist of Ukraine to the position of an acting general director of the enterprise in agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The State Property Fund regained control of PJSC “Centrenergo” in late spring last year. Oleksandr Korchynskyi, who headed the company at that time, managed to bring the company out of the crisis - PJSC “Centrenergo” ended 2020 with a profit of over UAH 50 million, against a loss of UAH 2 billion in 2019. This result is a significant contribution of Oleksandr Korchynskyi to the development of the company. The State Property Fund is grateful to him for managing the company during this difficult period.
Merging with the most promising mines into a unified holding company with the aim of further privatization is the next stage of the PJSC “Centrenergo” development and it requires, among other things, a renewal of the management. That is why the management rotated at the initiative of the Fund.
The newly appointed Head of the company, Yurii Vlasenko, will continue PJSC “Centrenergo” financial recovery and preparations for privatization in order to strengthen the current results and achieve new ones. His experience in the field of state regulation will also guarantee a further increase in the transparency of the enterprise.
The priority tasks of the manager will be the implementation of an updated strategy of wholesale electricity sales and cost optimization. In addition, the supply of coal products will be optimized with an increase in the share of supplies from the mines that will be part of the vertically integrated holding. The company will give priority to purchasing only domestic coal.
"I am confident that the results already achieved will be a reliable basis for the further development of PJSC “Centrenergo”. We have every opportunity to make a company where a majority stake in the state, a successful market player in Ukraine's energy sector. The company faces many challenges and we are ready to do everything possible to overcome them", - Yurii Vlasenko noted.
Yurii Vlasenko has more than 15 years of experience in management positions in the energy sector and work in government agencies, in particular in 2011-2014 as a member of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine. For labor achievements, Vlasenko was awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree, as well as the title of "Honored power engineering specialist of Ukraine ".
