UAH 201 million: for the first time in the history of Ukraine, the seaport was privatized

For the first time since Ukraine's independence, the State Property Fund successfully held a privatization online auction of the seaport in the state system Prozorro.Sale. The cost of the Sea Trade Port of Ust-Dunaisk has increased more than 3 times from 60 million hryvnias of the starting price to 201 million hryvnias of victorious one. 8 participants competedin the auctionfor the right to privatize the port.

From April 1, the port resumed work, and since then has exceeded 153 thousand tons of grain for export and 58.3 thousand tons of imported consumer goods with a design capacity of 4.1 million tons. In fact, today the port operates only at 5% of its capacity.

"Before the great war, almost everyone forgot about the Sea Trade Port of Ust-Dunaisk, but it was one of the first to resume work after the start of a full-scale invasion of the russian army. It has great potential for the development of Ukrainian food exports. But this requires investments that private business can bring," Rustem Umerov, Chairman of the State Property Fund, said.

"This is the first port privatized in the Prozorro.Sale system. A landmark event that shows that the state is ready. Competition is more than twice as high as the average at privatization auctions, and a multiple price increase is a confirmation of the willingness of businesses to compete for such assets," Oleksiy Sobolev, Director of Prozorro.Sale, comments.

Before the full-scale invasion, the main investments went to other seaports. After privatization, the new owner of the Sea Trade Port of Ust-Dunaisk will be able to direct private investments to intensify the activities of this operatingport.

We remind that the winner has 20 working days to pay the cost of the lot after the day of completion of the auction. A contract of sale is signed only after receipt of funds to the budget.
