The investigation initiated at Dmytro Sennychenko’s statement of offering him a 5 million USD bribe is completed

On April 21, 2020 the NABU andthe SAPO completed the investigation initiated at the statement of Dmytro Sennychenko on a case of acommitting a corruption crime by personsexposed during the offeringa part of thepromised the 5 million USD bribe to the Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. Shortly after reviewing the investigation materials, the case will be sentto the High Anti-Corruption Courtof Ukraine.

"The main task I have is a sustainable investments attraction and a transparent privatization. This equals: a fight against a corruption. There was asystemic corruptionon every state enterprise transferred to the Fund for privatization and the corruption permeated them through. Privatization objects cleansing from corruption schemes meets stiff resistance. Villains use all raider tools and information attacks thusrobbing the people of Ukraine during the war andtheglobalpandemic. But when the authorities are united and uncompromisingly focused on results, then a corruptor’s desire to resist disappears", - theHeadof the State Property Fund of Ukraine Dmytro Sennychenkostated.

The Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine stressed: "I hope that therapid conclusion of the NABU investigationontheOPP bribe casewill also bealesson for all those who did not understandthe seriousness of the new authorities’ intentionsand try to grab a state property as their ownas it was at UMCC, Electrovazhmashand other state enterprises. The real fight against a corruption is the best signal for Ukrainian and international partners and investors, who closely follow the reforms in Ukraine and the programs for attracting long-term investment on the principles of transparency and openness. "

In November 2019 The NABU andthe SAPO investigation was initiatedat the statement of the Head of the Fund.

According to the investigation, the actions of the detained suspects are qualified under Part 4 Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("A proposal, promiseor illegal benefit granting to an official person").

Thus the suspects offered the Head of the State Property Fund of Ukrainethe5 millionUSD illegal benefit in exchange for appointment a predefined person as a director of PJSC “Odessa Port Plant” (99,5% of shares belong the government).

Dmytro Sennychenko immediately informed the law enforcement officers about the accidentand tookpart in the operation ofthe suspects exposing.

According to the idea of intruders, the appointment of a predefinedperson to the position of the head of the state company could help to establish cooperation between the plant and a number of private companies related to the corruption crimeinitiators.

The suspects had planto provide illegalbenefits in partsthroughout the year since the agreement would bereached. However, during the transfer of the first tranche they were exposed by theNABU detectives.
